Vietnam Veteran
While serving their time in Vietnam the soldiers encountered many illnesses and dangers. Private Nick Simon contracted malaria, which he described as the absolute worst experience of his life, he developed an extremely high temperature and was slathered in rubbing alcohol then put into an ice bath to bring down his fever and bring to a normal temperature. Two to three weeks later he was sent back out to fight with close to no recovery time. Other diseases they encountered consisted of hepatitis A, typhoid fever, bacterial diarrhea, dengue fever, Japanese encephalitis, and in some cases H5N1 avian influenza.
